Side Tables for Operating Room Heart-Lung Machines
A hospital’s biomedical equipment technician contacted Alexanders with the need for an improved item used in some of his hospital’s operating rooms. The perfusionists in the hospital use side-mounted tables on the heart-lung machines during open-heart surgeries. The technician was requesting a better material over the current tables, along with design changes. After taking custom measurements for each heart lung machine, Alexanders machined these working tables from medical-grade material. Each table bears an engraved marking for its corresponding machine, providing an indicator for efficiently reattaching the tables to the correct machines when they are removed for cleaning. The perfusionists gave extremely positive feedback, finding these new tables to be a vast improvement over their old side tables.
