In a job-shop environment, the welder/fabricator will interpret prints, plan, set up and produce a wide variety of fabricated products. Requirements include material prep and fit-up, mig and tig welding, and overhead crane and forklift operations. The ability to interpret mechanical drawings, along with attention to detail and effective communication skills, are a must. Minimum 3 years of experience.

Primary Areas of Responsibility

– Understand and interpret mechanical drawings, hand sketches, prints, and specs
– Select tooling and determine appropriate methods for manufacturing products
– Follow an organized system for storing and retrieving tools
– Identify potential problems and recommend corrective action
– Perform checks during production to ensure specs and quality standards are met
– Inspect work areas, and examine tools and equipment to prevent unsafe conditions

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

– Minimum three years welder/fabrication experience

– Strong background in interpreting mechanical drawings and sketches

– Safety-conscious approach at all times

– Strong problem-solving skills

– Detail-orientated with good organizational and planning skills

– Strong communication and listening skills

– Self-motivated in an independent work environment

– Mechanically inclined and have knowledge of metal shop work
